Bringing Home Baby K Video

Cary & I are SO excited to finally share this amazing video of our adoption journey!
This video was put together for us by the Ticats media team in honor of National Adoption Month.
My sweet friend Brodie Lawson pitched the idea for this video to us a few months ago. Brodie & her team did such a great job capturing our story. We are so thankful for all of the hard work they put into creating this awesome video for us.

We are grateful for the support we've been shown through the Ticats as well as from friends & fans across the CFL! We have felt so blessed & supported on our journey to bring home Baby K!

Nearing the Fundraising Finishline!

Hi friends!

As most of you know, we are in the process of adopting Baby K!!! We are so excited & are hoping to be matched with our baby any day.

Were you aware that November is National Adoption Month?!
I love reading about how adoption has touched the lives of others. It's been so encouraging to see all of the posts on social media celebrating adoption over the past week & a half. I'm thankful for the connections I've made in the online adoption community that have allowed me to learn so much about this process.

As you probably know, over the past 7 months, we have been fundraising! I know y'all are probably so tired of seeing all of our fundraising posts by now! Hang in there with us just a little bit longer ;)
If you check out our "Fundraising Thermometer" on the right hand side of the blog, you will see we are getting REALLY close to reaching our fundraising goal (we've raised 83% of our goal)!
We are hoping & praying that by the end of this month, we will have met our goal.

We know how busy life gets around this time of the year with the Holidays coming up, so we wanted to break everything down for those of you who are interested in helping us reach our fundraising goal!
For those of you interested in participating, we have 4 active fundraisers going on this month!

Here's the breakdown:

We will be holding an *ONLINE* Auction through Facebook starting this Sunday, Nov 16th & ending on Wednesday Nov 19th.

We have worked really hard on this fundraiser & are hoping for it to be a huge success!
We have collected over 100 AMAZING items for our auction! We are in the process of adding items to the event page & inviting others to join the event.

In order for this event to be a success, we need to involve A LOT of people! We are hoping that by the end of the auction, every single item will have at least 1 bid!

4. PUZZLE FUNDRAISER

Finally, I want to share about our puzzle fundraiser.
God has provided abundantly for us through this fundraiser.
We are so thankful for every single person who has donated to our adoption fundraising. We have been encouraged & blown away by the friends, family and even strangers who have been a part of our adoption journey so far!

Here's an update on this fundraiser:
So far, our puzzle represents almost $8,000 of donations & is 91% complete.
281 out of 300 puzzle pieces have been claimed by donations!
That means we only have 23 pieces left until our puzzle is complete!
1 puzzle piece = $30, so 19 puzzle pieces = $570!

Updated puzzle picture:
*This is the most recent puzzle picture but it's not totally updated! There are a few people we still need to add!

Each of the people represented on this puzzle have touched our hearts in an amazing way! We will always cherish this puzzle as a reminder of God's goodness, faithfulness & provision & the generosity & selfless of people in our lives. Our sweet Baby K will always be able to see the tangible way that our friends & family lived out the Gospel & helped bring him/her home!

How YOU can help us finish our fundraising efforts:

1. Pray! Pray over the details of our adoption, over our fundraising & pray about how you can be involved. Pray that others would be reached by our story & for God to be glorified! We have no doubt that God is going to provide for our family! We believe He will help us meet our goal by inspiring others to join our journey.

2. Share! Share this post on social media sites & with friends & family & anyone & everyone you think might want to contribute!
I will be posting a lot on social media over the next couple of weeks, you can help us by reposting & sharing. We feel at this point, we have reached almost everyone in our online community with our story, & need help spreading our story to others outside of our reach.

*A note of PRAISE!*
We are INCREDIBLY THANKFUL & overwhelmed by the response we've received to our fundraising while we've been away in Canada.

Online community y'all have been amazing!
I cannot believe our blog has over 41,000 views. Thank you all so much for taking part in all of our various online fundraisers, keeping up with our story, & praying for us over the past couple of months!

Fundraising & walking through the adoption process while away from home has been difficult at times for us. Sometimes, it's been hard not to feel limited in our efforts & get discouraged by thinking that if we were living at home, we would have more fundraising opportunities.

Thankfully God has been faithful & steadfast in His reminders to us that He is ultimate provider & is not bound by circumstance! He has continuously spoken to us that He has us HERE, in Canada, in this very situation, in this specific time in our lives, in our adoption journey & in this point in our fundraising. He has chosen & ordained this time in our lives for His purposes! The support we have received from so many of YOU is beautiful, humbling & overwhelming. Thank you!

We are encouraged by what God has done & will do through His people!
We are choosing to continue to step out in faith and in prayer to ask others to join our journey!
We cannot raise this money for our adoption alone, but God has assured as that we can do it with His guidance & the help of the body of Christ.

Would you consider participating in some way?

Thanks so much for checking in. Y'all are amazing!

Chaos & Peace

Waiting.
…the most prevalent theme in our adoption journey lately...

I wasn't planning on sharing this, but felt like I was supposed to. We are currently waiting to hear news about a situation we were recently told about. For 2 days my stomach has literally been in knots. I feel sick. I’m exhausted & exhilarated all at once.
I’ve felt like this a lot over the past 8 months in our adoption journey but never to this extreme before.

“Could this be it? It is finally our time? Is this what you have for us, God? Am I going to be brokenhearted again? How do I keep all of these emotions in check? Help me to praise you even if the answer is no. Jesus, calm my heart, bring me peace, be with me in the waiting…”

I’ve whispered so many prayers over the past 48 hours. I find myself wide-awake in the middle of night, words on my lips. As soon as I open my eyes in the morning, I am uttering, “please Lord”…prayers & tears come spilling out in the middle of writing an email, looking in the mirror, making coffee.
I find myself literally holding my breath at random moments throughout the day. Every time I get an email, my heart skips a beat & I get an adrenalin shot of fear & hope all at once. Sitting in silence simply isn’t an option. My thoughts are too loud. Fear, hope, anticipation, faith, preparing for disappointment…my heart & mind are a huge swirl of different thoughts & emotions.

What’s crazy that in the midst of the chaos there is also peace…that’s the power of God working in me. This peace does not come from me, & is only possible because of the Holy Spirit. Over the past couple of days, I’ve heard God whisper His word to my heart. When I focus on His truth, the peace that comes over me is truly supernatural. I’m thankful He intervenes, is so present in our daily lives & cares about every detail of our lives.

(After writing this post, I felt like I was supposed to come back & add this: Maybe someone reading this needs to hear that God loves you. He is a present God. He is real & He desires to have a relationship with you. Do you have the peace of God in your life? Have you ever heard Him speak loving promises to your heart? Do you know Him in this intimate & real way? We were created for relationship with Him. He desires to know you. Call out to Him. The Bible says that all we have to do to enter into a relationship with God is to call upon His name, believe, repent of our sins & ask Him to change us. No matter what we've done He is always faithful to forgive us, restore us & love us unconditionally.
"If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
~Romans 10:9-13)

These are a few of the Bible verses I’ve had on repeat in my head:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
~Philippians 4:6-7

Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
~Matthew 11:28

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
~Jeremiah 29:11

What are some verses that help you get through hard days?

Over the past couple of months, waiting has seemed to be the main theme in our journey, but I can see so many other little themes & big lessons too. Through the waiting, God is working & teaching & changing us. It's not easy but we know this growth is for our good & His purposes.

Would you be praying for us? The wait is very hard…but we believe God’s timing is perfect. Please pray for our hearts to rest in His peace. We trust Him regardless of whatever answer we receive, but it’s not easy. We need the prayers of many to help lift us up.

Little Baby K, will you ever know how much we love you?! I sure hope so. You are so worth every second of this hope & heartbreak. We love you & cannot wait to meet you!

National Adoption Month: Our Story

November is National Adoption Month!
I am encouraged and challenged by all of the stories I've seen shared through social media about adoption over the past couple of days.

I thought I would share a little post about the call God has placed on our family to adopt.

Adoption is something I have always felt passionate about. I wasn't very educated on the process before we started our own journey, but there's always been a burning desire in my heart concerning adoption. As I've mentioned a few times before, Cary and I always knew adoption was going to be a part of the way God grew our family. We thought adopting would happen later down the line for our family, but God had a different timeline in mind for us. After being diagnosed with infertility & going through over a year of heartbreak & confusion concerning the future of our family, we began to realize God was calling us to adoption sooner than we expected.
As soon as we made the decision to adopt, I felt something inside me come alive. It sounds strange but I don't know how else to describe it…there was a strong confirmation & a sweet celebration in my heart that our decision to adopt was "right". It was like God brought me through all of the pain of infertility so that I could clearly see His plan for us concerning adoption & say "yes" when He opened the door.

I don't fully understand why we have to deal with bearing the painful cross of infertility, but I do believe God is using it for His glory. He has used this journey as an invitation to for us cling to Him & to be faithful in trusting Him to provide for our family. We cannot control our fertility, but we can be faithful with how we respond to our diagnosis. Right now, we know without a doubt that God asked us to put fertility treatment on hold. We know that He is bringing a baby to us right now through the gift of adoption. If we hadn't had any trouble conceiving, we would probably be pregnant with a second child right now & no where near considering adoption. The amount of love I have for the baby God is bringing into our family right now through adoption is unbelievable & indescribable. I cannot imagine missing out on this beautiful & precious gift…

Even though our journey to parenthood has been difficult, I am extremely thankful for God's plan. I know when we meet our sweet Baby K, all of the heartache & the long wait will be worth it. God has used & is continuing to use this journey to open our eyes to His plan for our family. It's a lot different than we planned, but I don't believe it will be any less beautiful. I know God is using our journey to parenthood to establish a powerful testimony of His provision, a deep understanding of the gift of family & a passion for bringing children into forever families in our hearts. God has also strengthened our marriage immensely through this journey. It's been so beautiful to walk alongside Cary in this journey & see his passion for adoption grow.
I know that zeal we have for adoption comes from our heavenly Father. God is passionate about adoption. Because He lives in us, His passions are our passions. God is devoted to seeing each of His children loved & cared for. He is all about love & redemption. God loves bringing hope & healing where there is despair & hurt. He has rescued us & restored us to Himself (He has adopted us!!!). He wants to use us to help Him rescue others. God's heart is for US to be His hands and feet to this hurting world. This is the call He has placed on His children.
Every person who has entered into a relationship with Him is called to love others like He loves. Every single one of us can make a difference in the lives of children across the globe. I personally know God has a call on our lives to not only adopt, but to also be a voice for adoption & advocate for it. Our journey with adoption has opened my eyes to love more, give more & do more for babies & children who are in need of forever families. I'm not sure exactly what God has in store for us, but I can't wait to see where He leads our family as we learn more about how to live out His heart for adoption.

You might not be called to adopt or foster but there are so many other ways to make a lasting difference in the lives of so many sweet little ones. You can donate, volunteer, educate & pray on behalf of adoption. I hope you will be challenged this month to set aside time in prayer to ask God how He wants to use you concerning adoption. There are so many resources out there on adoption. Do some research, spend some time in prayer & make a plan to be more involved! :)

We are SO thankful for each person who has blessed us immensely in our own journey to bringing Baby K home. The support we've received is beautiful. Y'all are truly living out the gospel! God is so faithful to provide for us & He's doing it through your generous hearts. We are humbled & grateful…
