Our Three Year Anniversary!

Happy 3rd Wedding Anniversary to the love of my life!

Celebrating our anniversary with Isabel in our arms makes this anniversary even sweeter. We are absolutely loving this new stage in our family & are so in love with our baby girl. She is an absolute delight to our hearts.

A year ago today, we shared our first blog post & announced that we were adopting with our family & friends. I can hardly believe it's been a whole year! I remember how nervous I was when I shared that First Post. The response we received from so many of you blew us away. From the very beginning, our decision to adopt was celebrated, encouraged & covered in prayer. Thank you for joining us in the most beautiful journey of our lives.

We've experienced the grace of God in beautiful ways this year. We prayed & trusted God with our dream of having a baby. We continued to process & grieve our infertility diagnosis. We felt God leading us in a new direction & stepped out in faith to pursue adoption. Together, we set aside our pride & worked hard to fundraise & do everything we needed to prepare for "Baby K". We experienced the generosity of friends, family & strangers in a profound way & our hearts were forever changed by it. We pushed through the many emotional ups & downs adoption brought our way as we waited to be matched with a baby. Then everything fell into place all at once when we were matched. We quickly found ourselves falling in love with our baby-to-be & her birth family. We traveled to Georgia & experienced the amazing birth of our daughter firsthand. Now we are joyfully caring for our beautiful daughter, adjusting to life as a family of three & learning how to love each other in new ways. This year, we've grown so much, individually & as a couple. Everything we've been through has deepened our faith & our love for one another. I am so thankful for all God has done.

Happy 2 months (on the 12th) to our sweet Isabel Grace!

Lessons from Motherhood, Month Two:

Basically everything from Month One, plus
Baby smiles are seriously heart melting.
Pacifiers are a trusty friend in clutch situations.
Watching your baby grow & change by the day is surreal & so much fun.
Somehow your baby's evening feeding & your dinnertime will almost always coincide.
Watching your parents love on their grandchild is pretty spectacular.
Speaking of grandparents...free babysitting rocks!
Frequently checking on your "too quiet" baby mid-nap to make sure she's breathing is a very real thing.
Sometimes, nothing is more important or special than cuddling with your sleeping baby…be still & soak up those moments.
Adding one tiny baby to the family somehow seems to triple the laundry ;)
The feeling that swells up inside of you when your baby looks into your eyes is pure joy.
Successfully tiptoeing, crawling (or even rolling) out of the room while your baby dozes off is a new kind of adrenaline rush.
Is there anything more delicious than kissing on baby cheeks?!
Blowouts happen…learn to laugh through them!
Knowing your little one trusts & depends on you is one of the most empowering feelings in the world. It's also a little terrifying, but that's where God's grace comes in. Remember, you were made for this! :)

Isabel, this month with you was tons of fun. We've been in a good rhythm & have really been able to enjoy you. You are happy, determined, smiley, interactive, easy-going & as precious as can be. When you don't like something, you are quick to let us know! You love to coo & talk with us. Your sweet smiles melt our hearts.
You grew & changed so much this month. You are holding your head up like a champ. You rolled over once from your stomach to your back, but haven't figured out how to do it again. You are always trying to move & you're obsessed with kicking your little legs like crazy, it's your new favorite thing. You also love standing up while we hold you. You are so strong! You've also started intentionally falling over when we sit you up on the couch because you know we think it's funny.
I love seeing your personality emerge, snuggling with you & dressing you up for pictures. This month, you celebrated your first Easter, hung out with family a lot & continued to steal the hearts of everyone you meet. Being your mommy is a beautiful gift. I can't wait to see what next month brings!

We want to say thank you {again} to all of you who have prayed for us, encouraged us & loved on us throughout our marriage & especially over this past year as we pursued adoption. Your prayers encouraged our hearts & your support helped make it possible for us to bring Isabel home!

Cary & I have already started talking about, praying & saving for whatever is next for our family. I can feel God stirring up dreams & desires in my heart. We would love for your continued prayers as we discern what direction God is leading our growing family. For now we are totally content loving on Miss Isabel & making sweet memories as a family of three, but we are also excited & open to wherever God has next for us.

Here's to many more years with the man I love… Cary, for better or for worse, you're my guy. :) Thank you for loving me so well.
May the Lord continue to keep our marriage centered on His love & truth.

Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:

If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.

Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?

Though one may be overpowered,
    two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

  2. How amazingly you shared your story! Truly, I enjoyed reading this. Thank you very much for sharing. My sister just got blessed with a cute baby daughter. She is so happy. She wants to throw a party to share her happiness with loved ones and reserved some local event location rentals for this occasion.
